The duck was broken at Flemington on Saturday as consistent Zac De Boss posted SZR’s first Flemington winner, as a standalone stable. This is truly a memorable moment for our stable annd one we intend to build on, in the future.
Zac pinged the gates quickly from barrier 1 as apprentice jockey Matthew Cartwright angled towards the better ground in the centre of the track. Zac produced some outstanding sectionals throughout the 1100m trip and toughed it out to hold off the Philip Stokes trained Red Hot Nicc to take out the Off the Track Community Trophy but 0.2L.
“He’s had a bit of a throat issue and I tried him at 1400m and worked out that the quicker they go the better he breathes. He’s had a few goes here (At Flemington) and has never run a bad race.” Said Simon Zahra. “He’s also been in work a long time so we’ll just see how he pulls up. We don’t do a lot with him during the week and we space his runs. He seems to be a pretty happy horse.”
Full credit to the horse who keeps producing, as well as Matthew Cartwright for a smart ride. We must also thank regular trackwork rider Ryan and race rider Damien Thornton for their work with the horse this preparation. Zac loves the Flemington winner straight so we’ll look to find him another suitable race in the near future where we know he’ll be super competitive. Please follow the SZR stable in the future as we look to create more winners and excitement, for all our owners.
