The day finally arrived for much loved mare Screaming Diva where, after many setbacks and tribulations she had her nose in front on the line for the very first time.
Facing more highly fancied opposition including a son of the great Black Caviar, Screaming Diva lined up in the 1000m maiden with her regular jockey Liam Riordan in the saddle. She jumps well from a wider barrier in the small field to take up the lead. She set an even tempo, with Invincible Caviar breathing down her neck from the outset. Liam held his nerve, pinching a short break on the home turn and toughing it out to hang on by a short margin.
Congratulations to wonderful group of owners who have been very patient with her. She hasn’t been the most sound racehorse but they’ve stuck by her and been duly rewarded. There’s plenty of options for her over the coming weeks but we’ll stick to the 1000m on tight turning tracks for her and we’re sure there’s more wins in store for his consistent daughter of Holler.
