On Monday at Echuca we sent Tavisteel up the freeway on her lonesome to tackle the BM58 1600m. The solitary thinking time clearly did the trick as she stormed away from her rivals to score a soft win.
With in-form jockey Lachie King in the saddle, she was able to get the gun run three pairs back on the outside with a moderate tempo. She traveled sweetly throughout until Lachie made the race-winning move, setting her alight at the 600m and looping the field. She looked the winner a long way out, sustaining that mid race move and roaring away to win comfortably.
Full credit must go to the entire team with this mare, with the variety in her training including swimming and jumping really paying dividends. We’ll find a BM64 with her over a mile again and if she holds her form she can certainly win again.
Congratulations to her big ownership group who have been very patient with her and hopefully now get to enjoy the fruits as we continue into her Winter campaign.
