After a highly anticipated first up run at Swan Hill that went awry, Shootoose had a point to prove at the Ballarat synthetic on Saturday.
With Lachie King in the saddle and very little speed on paper, Shootoose jumped well and settled just in behind the speed, travelling sweetly to the 600m. At that point there was a few nervous moments, where Lachie was held up for a run whilst looking to angle out to the middle of the track. The bird looked like it had flown, however Shootoose unleashed a withering last furlong to power away to win with serious authority. It was Lachie King’s 4th winner of the day, a great achievement Lachie!
Congratulations to the ownership group, including Clanbrooke Racing, who have been supportive throughout his somewhat frustrating career. He now seems more genuine and has worked out what it takes to win races. We’ll stick to the synthetic with him and step him up to benchmark 64 grade where he can continue his winning ways.
