It was a massive build up to the $1,000,000 VOBIS Showdown on Saturday and our flying filly She’sallshenigans delivered in spades. Ridden by elite front running rider Linda Meech, Shelly bounced quickly and took up a position on the speed whilst sliding off the fence into the better ground. She travelled sweetly to the bend and just for a second there was a concern she wasn’t handling the shifty ground on the tired Sandown track. But this was short lived as she balanced up and blasted away from her rivals, careering away to win by more than 3 lengths on the line. She quickly silenced the doubters, of which there were many during the week in the media and ran through the line strongly stamping her papers for the Spring group races where she will be highly competitive.
There’s a lot of thank you’s as it takes a hell of a lot of work to get a horse to win a $1m race. Firstly to her loyal group of owners who have enjoyed a wonderful ride so far and have plenty more fun in store. There’s a lot of staff who have been involved in her education including Chloe and Liv who have also done a fantastic job.
She’s gone to the paddock for a well earned break and we’ll be back to attack the Spring with her where getting a black type win will be on the agenda for this already very valuable filly.
