Last night at Pakenham our classy filly by The Autumn Sun, Sinister Sauce, put her carnival credentials to the test and came away a winner over the mile in a tough performance. She had very little go her way in the run with gun jockey Damian Lane letting her stride three wide without cover for the entire trip. She did all the work, however she was kept in a great rhythm and Damian cut the ribbons to start her sprint early in the straight.
She was challenged strongly by a couple of promising horses from the Price/Kent and Stokes stables, however really pinned her ears back and refused to let them pass her, kicking to win by a long neck on the line. She still did plenty wrong, so to be able to win under those circumstances is hugely promising. Simon has a lot of time for this filly so hopefully she can graduate to city and stakes racing in the near future. Well done to all connections, including Merricks Station and Justin Docherty who are enormous supporters of the stable
