We managed to pick up this precocious, fluent walking colt on day 3 of the Inglis Classic sale from Torryburn Stud, the nursery of dual Group 1 winner Home Affairs.
Merchant Navy was himself a dual Group 1 winner, taking out the prized Coolmore Stud Stakes in an extraordinary performance before jetting off to the UK to win the country’s premier sprint, the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
By super sire Fastnet Rock, Merchant Navy was undefeated at two before taking all before him as a three year old. An explosive sprinter, his blinding turn of foot was his best asset which he appears to have passed onto his early progeny including In the Navy and Galaxy Affair.
This colt’s dam is by champion sire I Am Invincible. She’s a metropolitan winner of two races and was thought highly enough of to compete in stakes races against the likes of star mares Prompt Response at just her second start.
She is from a strong Godolphin family littered with stakes winners including Hosannah, Altar, Blackball and Deprive.
VOBIS & BOBS eligible, we will be looking forward to getting this colt to the track early and competing for the outstanding prizemoney on offer in Victoria or NSW.
