The stable’s three-year-old Brutal World is showing us nice ability – certainly due a win having been a game placegetter at each of her first five outings – and we were excited to secure this colt, her full brother.
His Gr.1 Doncaster Handicap winning sire Brutal, a well related son of the great New Zealand stallion O’Reilly, was a gifted racehorse who was able to win five of his ten starts.
Also winner of the Gr.2 Premiere Stakes and two Listed events, he has made a most encouraging start to his stud career with his progeny expected to get all the better as they mature.
The Listed Gibson Carmichael Stakes winner Jenni’s Meadow is amongst Brutal’s first 21 winners whilst three of his first five runners out of mares by Fastnet Rock are winners including the stakes placed promising filly Harlem Queen.
This is part of the success story that is the O’Reilly/Fastnet Rock combination – one well represented by the Gr.1 winners Veight, Romancing The Moon, Never Been Kissed and One Bold Cat.
This colt’s dam Rock The World won four races over sprinting trips and her sire Fastnet Rock is one of the great broodmare sire influences with his daughters producing 137 stakes winners; 15 of whom are Gr.1 winners… including the tough campaigner Veight whose sire Grunt is, like Brutal, by O’Reilly.
Rock The World is a daughter of the classy Choisir mare Diamond Earth, winner of five of her 21 starts including the Gr.3 Nivison and the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes. Her stakes placed dam Face Of The Earth produced another six winners and she is a half-sister to the Gr.2 Edward Manifold Stakes winner Bring Me Roses and the Gr.3 Bobbie Lewis Quality winner Face Value.
This is a strong branch of the prolific Betty Derr family, one which also produced three winners of the Kentucky Derby – California Chrome, Swaps and Iron Liege… as well as the outstanding stallion Green Desert.
