The First Light Racing owned Zac De Boss keeps going from strength to strength as he posted his second Flemington straight win in a row on Saturday.
The four year old Zac into gelding takes his impressive record to five wins from just thirteen starts and banked over $254,000 in prizemoney for his connections.
Jumping from the favourable wide barrier, Matthew Cartwright was able to keep Zac De Boss in a nice rhythm throughout as he chased down the breakaway leader Sartorial Splendour. He held off a late challenge from that galloper but was never really in doubt as he held on to score by 0.3L.
Attention now turns to Flemington in a fortnight where a potential start in the $160,000 Furphy Santa Ana Lane Sprint Series Final is on the cards, however Simon will let the horse tell us what he wants to do.
“He has been in work a long time. It is tempting (to head to the final) but I will let the horse let me know if he goes there or to the paddock,” Zahra said.
Whether Zac pushes on or heads to the paddock for a well earned rest, we couldn’t be happier with his progression and feel he’ll be even better in the summer.
Thank you to all the staff at SZR who have made this win possible and we look forward to lots more success with this horse.
